In a move to “educate” the population (roughly 8,000+) of the unincorporated community of Joshua Tree (92252), the San Bernardino County government’s LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission) offers a roundtable discussion with Kathleen Rollings-McDonald at the Joshua Tree Community Center on Thursday, September 27th at 6:30 pm. (click HERE for MAP)
Ms. Rollings-McDonald, Executive Officer of the San Bernardino Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), is an amazing resource with encyclopedic knowledge of San Bernardino county. She oversees a state agency that is involved in every San Bernardino county incorporation, annexation, and sphere of influence. LAFCO is also charged with doing service reviews of each these entities every 5 years. (A copy of the 2011 review for Joshua Tree – CSA 20, is online at JTCAonline.org)
Kathleen is well aware of our desire to have more input and influence on the future of our community. Over the past few years Joshua Tree has been presented with several projects that have caused concern about the direction of our community – the bullet we dodged with the Katz project, a possible casino, the Dollar General store, solar and wind projects and phone towers. She will cover several topics including the National Historic Conservation Reserve and LAFCO’s recommendation that Joshua Tree seriously consider an elected Community Service District or CSD.
There will be time for your questions and community input. We hope you’ll join us and please pass the word about this roundtable to your friends and neighbors.
Please join us September 27 at 6:30 pm.
Victoria Fuller, President
Joshua Tree Community Association
